After an extensive international search, Star Group is proud to announce the appointment of Sam Egerton as our new Chief Executive Officer.
Sam brings with him over 25 years of hospitality experience, most recently as General Manager of New Projects at the Merivale Group in Australia, where he led several high-profile venue launches. Throughout his career, Sam has earned recognition including a place on the Australian Bartenders Most Influential List and awards for sustainability in hospitality.
But hospitality isn’t just Sam’s career — it’s part of his DNA. With generational ties to the industry and siblings who also work in hospitality, his passion runs deep.
On taking the role, Sam says:
“Hospitality when done right can positively impact more than just the industry, it’s about bringing people together and inspiring connection and community. I’m really energised about the opportunities ahead for Star Group, and it’s an honour to return home to New Zealand to lead this amazing team.”

“Sam brings with him a deep understanding of hospitality, innovation in customer experience and operational expertise. As a respected, experienced and progressive hospitality leader, Egerton is ideally placed to lead Star Group into its next phase.”
Sam has officially relocated back to New Zealand and begins in his role this week. We’re thrilled to welcome him and look forward to what’s ahead under his leadership.
